Opening Up 2 Peter
2 Peter is the apostle Peter’s final letter—the last words we have in Scripture from the man Jesus called to be a rock. Written to believers living in “the last days,” it is an urgent call to grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ (2 Peter 3:18), knowing how the story of human history ends on the last day.
In this expository series, preached at Oceanside United Reformed Church in Carlsbad, in North County San Diego, Dr. Daniel Hyde opens up 2 Peter verse by verse.
Chapter 1 roots us in our standing with God, the gracious foundation and practice of the Christian life, and the certainty that the Scriptures are the very Word of God.
Chapter 2 warns us about false teachers within the church—and comforts us that the Lord knows how to rescue the godly from trials and to keep the unrighteous for the day of judgment.
Chapter 3 lifts our eyes to the Second Coming of Jesus: answering its scoffers, strengthening its believers, and calling us to live as its anticipators, waiting for new heavens and a new earth in which righteousness dwells.
Each sermon below includes the full video and complete manuscript. Watch, read, and grow in grace.
